Mind Tools

The article that I picked to read on mindtools.com was about stress. I went to stress management and looked at the article “Tofflers Stability Zones, Find Peace Among Chaos”.  You see I work in a high school in a special education classroom and some days can be ……. Difficult. It is hard to know what will happen on which day. Most days the students are great, and some days something may have happened to upset one of them. Then you better be on your toes! The article talked about having “one of those days” and just needing to go home leaving all of it at work. It talked about having a “zone” that was calming for you. It could be a place (my desk), an idea (Faith), people (you are comfortable with), things (a favorite book), or an organization (church). When you get stressed you can go to or think about these things and they will help you find some peace. While at work I think that I could share this with my co workers and we could find a place that we could all go to, it could be our zone. We would have to do it on our lunch break, but we could go there and just have peace and quiet or talk about something other than work. Don’t get me wrong, I love my students and love to work with them every day but some days I need “peace among the chaos”!

Laptop Buying Guide

While looking for a computer for my new job as a special education teacher, I visited the CNN website. I found an article on there that helped me pick out the right computer for me. By using this article I learned that I needed a mid-size computer with a 14-16 inch screen and a Core2 duo processor. From there, I went to bestbuy.com . I used a tool on the website that helped me narrow down my choices. I think I found the perfect computer for me. It is a Gammatech Durabook Ruggedized Laptop. I like this one because it has everything I will need when I start teaching. It is also made to handle a little abuse that could very well happen in my classroom or home. Although it is a little pricey at $1329.99, I think it will be well worth the money.

Daily News

7 People killed in a deadly plane crash
A couple and five children left from St. Louis, Missouri on their way to Destin, Florida on Saturday, July 12, 2011. While traveling in the small aircraft the right engine failed. With the father as the pilot, the plane was re-routed to Demopolis Municipal Airport in west central Alabama. They did not make it. The plane was discovered at two o’clock a.m. two miles from the runway. It took several hours for the rescuers to be able to remove the bodies because they were deep in the woods and the plane had to cool down. All the bodies were burned beyond recognition. Officials will not release the names until family members can be notified.
I don’t know if this article will be useful to anyone, but I believe people will like to know that this happened. I am glad I read this article. This is a sad situation; I can’t imagine what this poor couple was going through in the last moments before the crash. I am sure they were so scared for their children.
